Ética del cuidado y novela postcolonial: Dos lecturas con cuidado intertwines postcolonial studies with care ethics to outline a methodology referred to as “reading with care”. After exploring care in its ethical and political dimensions, this proposal is exemplified through careful readings of two recent novels from the English-language postcolonial canon: Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist by Sunil Yapa and The Story of a Brief Marriage by Anuk Arudpragasam, both published in 2016. These readings confirm the potential application of this methodology to other literary corpora and systems of representation. The primary goal of this study is to promote a “promiscuity of care” across all domains, aiming to permeate every aspect of our existence, from the most intimate and immediate to those reaching a global and planetary dimension.
