Synopsis:
Cultural diversity has been for years a most debated issue in contemporary academia. The nine essays included in this volume aim to contribute to the ongoing debate, narrowing its scope, and serving as an introduction to the topic in the specific context of Great Britain and English-speaking North America. Thus, they all offer critical appraisals of different, though in many respects related, cultural phenomena and/or cultural forms be they in the British, Canadian or US context in order to reveal the problematic situation of specific social groups and related subcultures, as well as their relation to their country's dominant discourses.
